| Post subject: | Engine bay/conversions/sizes |
Hi all, I'll be buying a 1.5 323f BA soon (possibly even today ).
Just want to know if the 1.8L engine would fit in the 1.5's engine bay, and the 1.8L GTX/GTR would fit if that did, no? Also anyone know what size the bay is and what other engines could be fitted, of course there would be all the looms to sort and drive and box if it was another manufacturers engine, but by the time my insurance allows me to mod ill have the cash easy. (Or i could just buy another car, but that's the easy way :P ). Only asking for when i do get my 323 if it didn't fit i'd just concentrate on styling / ICE next year and swap the kit onto a 1.8 and upgrade that to a turbo. Cheers, Paul (Oh check my site for my dad's 200sx (which was gonna be mine at 21 ) and check the new car too :P )

Hi there Paul, The size of the engine bay will allow you to slip in the 1.8 (not sure about the 1.8GTX model tho) 2.0 V6 and more interestingly the 2.5 V6 (KL-ZE)from the MX-6 & Ford Probe, that would be, lets say interesting
Have a look at Wai's thread about a KL-ZE and his ideas on putting one in, its the Japanese version too, nearly 200BHP  http://www.maz323f.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php4?t=1123 Sure loads of others on here know more than me about what'll fit in, just that I DO know the KL-ZE would fit, but as for the expense of doing it....sheesh!! Regards, Steve |

hey hey, thanks for reply! Well being as i cant mod my car for my 1st year of insurance ill have hmm about 5k-6k if i don't go mad on an ICE install in the first year
I'd really like to cram a turbo lump in there sometime though, just got to restrain myself from spending the cash for a year... ...not gonna be possible

Hmmm, so yer interested in shoving a turbo'd engine in rather than increasing the capacity huh? Can't blame you really, turbo'd cars do have that difference that all I can say is that makes you smile, or laugh even
Having had a turbo in my "youth" I do miss it now, but having a V6 makes up for the shove in the back and the whoosh of a turbo, many of you on here who has a ZXi know of the sudden urge of power after around 3,000 revs. Best of luck with your motor, think you'll find plenty of help on here, and on the 323 site itself. steve |

Well i prefer turbos after whooshing about in the 200sx (click mysite).....plus everyone loves a dump valve dont they? Ah well best start saving the pennies. (just calculated im gonna spend £1500 on interior styling, handling and stopping power...spose insurance wont be arsed if i make the car 'safer'). Need to work an ICE quote out now
Well i suppose i'll just have to see whats around to shove in in a couple o years...anyone actually fitted a different manufacturers engine and drive to an f then? Oh Noble motorsport is right at end at my street and could build a custom engine for me but it'd be an arm and a leg! By the way waiting couple of weeks to get my F coz i'll be gettin paid soon
Thanks for the info guys n gals |
