My outer CV joint has joint has gone and am looking to replace it myself. Has anyone done it themselves and have any advice to give. I would also appreiciate it if someone could tell me the tourque setting for the driveshaft nut and a good way to hold the hub in place when undoing the nut (was a killer on my Renault). Cheers |

I have done VW CV's a couple of times, but not my Mazda yet .... The only way to get the driveshaft nut off is with a huge socket through the centre bore of the wheel, with the wheel bolted to the hub and the whole car on the ground with a brick either side of the wheel and the handbrake on. You will probably need an extensive extention as well. Don't use a cheap socket set; it will break before the nut comes loose. |
