FAO Mazda Man really, or anyone that knows about such things!

what is the best way to go about fitting remote central locking to these cars, and what parts would I need?

Also I'm considering having a Cat 1 alarm fitted, but can't cough up the mega spondoolies required, but just in case what is the best/most user friendly alarm and immobiliser system available (not neccessarily the most expensive, but best in terms of value for money, and features etc)

if your car is older than 95/96 than it should already have immobiliser fitted in which case all you need is what is called a 2 to 1 upgrade. this means your car is at the moment cat 2 and by adding upgrade it would make it cat 1. the problem is getting it fitted correctly and getting a certificate for insurance. cobra alarms are crap i would recommend toad/ meta or clifford. we used to fit sigma alarms at our dealership and were very reliable but i dont know who stocks them noe. the central locking patr is very easy to do if you understand car electics there was a posting on this forum a weak ago.

I'm pretty good with electrics, as I'm an aircraft mechanical/electrical engineer so I'm quite confident that I can do the job properly, but what parts do I need?? Are these "universal" kits any good for RCL or should I get the bits from Mazda??

The only posts that where lost where the ones for the 3 days before i switched servers.

I have seen a kit in most motorworld stores for remote central locking, i was cheapish if i remember correctly. I opted for a brand new CAT1 alarm/immobiliser with remote central locking which only cost me £160 (half price)

Dont ask which alarm system is as i like to keep my security a secret

Unfortunately cash and time are a bit short at the moment, and I won't be able to make it to Japfest (I'm out of the country) but thanks for your kind offer.

I think I'm going to save up for a 2-1 upgrade on the stock security system, but with a Clifford I think.
