i have bought infiniy 6x9s and the power you can put in them is 100watt rms.

the amp i buying says 4 ohm stereo. 2x80 rms watt
also 2 ohm stereo 2x100 rms watt

question is if i put 100rms into each speaker will this be to much even though its perfect match? would it be better at 80 just to make sure i dont blow them.
but then this is where i am stuck, what is 4 and 2 ohm? i wouldn know how to make them 4 and how to make 2. i have always just wired up the sub as a cross over ie + - + - and 6x9s i have always wired + - + -
12 21 1 2 1 2

just let you all know the 1 and the 2 symbolise the + and - wire and postions

As long as you correctly set the gain on the amp and don't turn them up so loud that there distorting then they shouldn't blow.

I used to have my 500W RMS sub connected to a 650W RMS amp, I set the gain correctly and didn't turn it up so loud that it distorted and it's never been any trouble.

ok so how do i know which way a 4ohm and a 2ohm is wired then? i will go for the 2ohm. i never seen a button on a amp to change from 4 to 2 so how do you do it lol

Ohm is a measurement of electrical resistance so you can't select it on the amplifier.
You have to know what resistance the speakers have and what the channel from the amplifier can cope with.

Wiring two 2ohm speakers in series creates a resistance of 4ohms. (series = multiply)
Wiring two 4ohm speakers in parallel creates a resistance of 2ohms. (parallel = divide)

The best way to understand it would probably be to look it up on google and you can find a lot of guides and diagrams which explain it better than me lol

I wouldn't worry too much. The amp figures will be high (they don't tally up to be honest, the 2 ohm figure should be higher than that if the 4 ohm figure is correct) and so will the speaker rating. What make is the amp?
Running 80W into 100W speakers would be fine - trying to add speakers to reduce impedance down to 2ohm will add more load onto the amp - it will work a lot harder to drive the current rating at the lower impedance. You will also have phasing issues running more speakers.
Better to leave it as is, 80W into 100W ;)

Right I got all subs and amps for speakers so I got to put in two amps. Now I thinking do I need two sets power leads two earth leads and two remote or can I split them so I got two amps off one cable. ?

I'd go for separate earths but the main power depends on the size of cable you have in place now and the power of the amps,

we have 2 amps but ran a large enough cable to supply power to both we split them in the boot with a fused junction box

the remote you can split as it just a signal wire

hope that helps :D

I had 4 amps in my van, and I used 0 gauge wire going to the main fused block then whatever wire I needed for each amp, always go for something a little bigger than you need.

With my remote wire I used something like this to split it, very easy and nice and tidy, I also used a similar one to split my earths
