Hi guys. I'm going to explain my current problem in the hope that someone can give me a clue!

I got in my car, started it and drove to the petrol station. I then put in petrol and tried to start the car - nothing.

I think it's the immobiliser. I have a Gemini system and I connect a fob to the socket on the dash and the blinking lights change to a much slower blink rate when the fob has successfully registered. It's at this point when I can usually start the engine. It's now no longer doing this. Just had to get towed home. The car wouldn't bump start either.

I drove through a puddle just before I turned into a petrol startion and I'm wondering if this did something but I'd also like to know if there's any way I can by-pass the immobiliser. Obviously that shouldn't be easy because that would defeat the purpose of the system but just thought I'd ask.

Any help is appreciated.

is there a little ball type thing in the end of the "key" that pushes in slightly when you hold it to the socket?

If it's similar to the cobra i have then it may be that one of the internal legs in the "circuit" inside the "key" may have snapped through fatigue.....(which is what happened to one of mine)

Dont suppose you have more than 1 key?

Nah my key isn't like that.

This is the same as mine:

It's a Gemini 5097 system. I found an instruction book online but it's not detailed and not much help.

My plan is to speak to an auto electrician and ask if it's cheaper to repair it or remove it. I'm not particularly fussed about having an immobiliser - especially not after this fiasco.

So my immobiliser is now history and the car is running. It's been a long week without a car!
