Anyone know a good way to get speaker wire to your speakers through the rubber seal (or whatever it might be called, the rubber thing that protects the wires going from the car to the door)

I will have 4 speakers in a door, so it's 8 wires in total. Will it even fit? Can i make my own seal? is there a third way? Is there any guides that focuses on this point, or the point of installing extra speakers into your doorcards?

Thanks in advance - J

You can remove the existing rubber loom cover and try to force wire through that, or you could drill a hole in the door and the car, then use your own rubber loom cover.

Other than that, you could just run the wires under the door seal and to the car, wrapped in PVC tape so they're barely visible. I'd probably do my own rubber loom cover so it looks like it's meant to be there ;)

Yes, i'd have to agree with you there, as 8 rather thick speaker wires is not exactly discrete :)

I had it like that in my old BA, and really, it looked like crap, so i dont want to try that again :)

Question is where you could get that rubber loom then. (oh so thats the word for it! :) I'v learned a lot of mechanical terms and words after starting to post on this forum hehe!

Hmm I'm not sure where you could get one.

Actually thinking about it, go to a scrapyard and steal them from some car doors :dontknow:

Could do it with some big heat shrink tubing, and use rubber grommets either end. Just make the hole big enough just to fit the cables through and then maybe a bit of sealant either end?

Okay, it's not a great solution if you need to take the door off, but the hole could be smaller than the ones needed for those big plug things then?

about that - how hard is it to remove the door? Is it something you want to attempt in -10 like we have here in sweden right now? :S I'd hate to drive to school the next morning with a door missing because i have not finished in time :)

The only decent way of doing this sort of thing is taking the door off. Any other way is a bodge job in my books.

Removing the door takes about 20 mins if it's the first time you've attempted it. Get a friend to help. As you get better at it, you'll eventually be able to fit and remove doors on your own without any help as i was doing earlier this year. I've done this job 8 times now. It wouldn't be too bad removing the door in very cold weather, but to install wires, drill holes and make electrical connections as well...no thanks!!

To make things easier, i would use a swivel headed ratchet spanner to undo the 10mm bolts. You can use a normal spanner, but it takes more time and concentration.

You need to find something to wedge under the door to hold it. Some bricks will do. Make sure the wedge is actually touching the bottom of the door before you start taking any bolts out.

Next remove the roll pin that is fixed to the door stay. Hammer the pin upwards until it comes out completely.

Then remove the 4 10mm bolts on the door hinges and move the door away from the car about 6". Peel the rubber from around the chassis socket and unclip the electrical connector. Job done.

@ Lethagized

I think you are my new best friend!

Thanks so much for this information - really really appreciated! I couldent agree more with you that doing this sort of thing in cold weather is not pleasant, but nonetheless, it will have to be done. i have from today untill tuesday on me to make it happen, and i should be able to accomplish that!

Once again, super thanks, really!

mate you can put speaker wire by remove the door socket. It will has a lot of pin in the socket some was not use. Then you need to use drill machine to larger the hole and insert speaker wire through this hole.

Overhere we got one guy who done more than 10 323f BA

You have to peel the rubber off revealing the wires. Then there is a simple clip inside.

I think you need to move small yellow pin up to unclip the electric socket. To install it back you need to deal with this pin and tidy up the rubber around socket.
It is hard work and to insert speaker wire need some lubricant.
