Hey people. I recently got ma a 323 1.5 GXi (very nice car, love drivin it) as a first car and i am just sorting out insurance and i got reading through my documents last nite and it appears that i have a mazdaguard alarm fitted (i actually have the instalation certificate rite here in front of me).

The thing i don't get is i have no way of arming the alarm which is turned off at the unit under the bonnet anyway. I do as far as i can tell have the master key for the alarm that turns it on and off under the bonnet. Thing i need to know is, should i have some sort of remote thing to set the alarm?

There is a lil red light just behind the steering wheel that looks like the sort of red led you get to say that ya imobiliser is active, but that don't flash either. Am i rite in assuming that that would flash when the alarm is on?

I didn't want to turn the alarm on under the bonnet using the key incase all hell broke loose and i couldn't turn it off, so i thourght u guys mite be able to answer a few questions for me. thanx in advance for your help,

Arty

Not sure how much help this is gonna be but....

The small key is the override key for the alarm... under the bonnet there will be a small key socket with (hopefully) marked on and off positions... this is the master switch for the alarm. For the alarm to work this must be in the ON position. If you ever get in the situuatuion where the alarm is blaring and your fob isnt working, you can stick your head under the bonnet, and with your toes (your fingers will be in your ears!) you can switch of the alarm with the Key.

Once the alarm is ON at the master switch, you should be able to use the fob (assuming you have one) to arm/disarm the alarm.
