Here's the connector at the back of my OEM stereo, for the remote CD changer

Here's the other end of the cable, where it goes in to the CD changer (in the boot)
I also came across all this paperwork I didn't know I had - details of the OEM audio equipment
When I say OEM, what I think happened is the dealer in the UK fitted the audio stuff. Certainly they fitted the alarm and the sunroof in my car, and it's a pretty safe bet that dealers would fit options like the audio equipment. I've never understood why they put the CD changer in such a rattly position - it tends to pause if I go over a bump!
So from what I can find, UK Mazda dealers fitted 'Finish line' products that carry a Mazda logo so they can be 'official'. I expect the same small range of audio equipment went into every flavour of Mazda they sold
Mine is a 1997 model, so there may be different kit for earier/later cars and in other countries
By the way, if you're still thinking of fitting a sunroof, the dealer-fitted sunroof I have in my current BA does not need any of the factory-fitted framework, it is just fitted into a hole cut in the roof! It does not slide open like the factory fitted ones, but it pops up nicely and slides back a bit
