top job Howie! those flutes from sandman were form me! good to see them getting some good treatment, I did a pretty bad job when I sprayed them sparkle green (that was my first ever attempt to spray anything!)

I've also been playing with another idea for a while now,
Nick let me have his spare set of plastic kick plates, (Well he has got shiny stainless ones now

)

While painting the flute I gave one of the rear kick plates a try too..... came out well:

Decided to play with my new polisher after carefully wet-sanding the flat section of the kick plate. :thumbright:

Used Megs Ultimate Compound and after several passes the finish came up great

Then polished up and waxed.

.......got a good reflection shot too :roll:

I know you have colour coded plates too, spotted them at the Megs day :thumbright:

Helped me to decide to smooth the grooved area flat, to get a better reflection and shine

Glad we have similar tastes, colour coded splitter.....................no wonder you want my car :evil4:

WOW Howie that looks great! How robust is this, like if you flex the plastic does it crackt he finish on the paint?

You know me Nick............no-one is allowed to get in my car anyway, so shouldn't be a problem :evil4:

The paint and lacquer is designed for body panels etc, and doesn't crack with slight flexing :thumbup:

then used a combined plastic primer/filler paint to get a smooth finish.

Today I finished work on my repainted side flute. :thumbright:

The lacquer layer did leave a little orange peel finish: :oops:

So today I gave it a careful wet-sand, which produces the scary dull and flattened finish: :pale:

Then used my DA polisher with Ultimate Compound to bring back the shine:

Really pleased with the final results:

Thought I would add my latest bit of painting, did these spare wheel centres a couple of weeks back:

And got round to fitting them today, after spending a couple of hours cleaning and polishing etc..... :roll:

WOW !! Your car looks like mirror in some of them shots! I gave BUG a good old polish the other day and today when i was out and about i got lots of second glances from other drivers coz she is very shiny ! but nowhere near as shiny as yours :roll:
