I'm about to get some vehicle ramps to work on my BA, but wondered if I'd need "low profile" ones because of the front bumper - it looks like I might scrape it getting up onto the standard ones. Before I buy the wrong type(!) can anyone please advise? Many thanks Serena |

Hi Serena, i have had exactly this problem over the last week, yes you will need low profile ones, i tried with planks of wood to make the gradient not as steep but with no joy.... |

You can get ramp extensions, I have two sets, no good for a lowered F with a V6 lip, but would probablywork a treat on an unlowered car ![]() See here..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/car-ramp-extensions |

Great, thanks Andy: think I'll try that as a compromise, as all the purpose-made low profile ramps I can find on the web so far, are around £150! Yes, car is unlowered. |

Hi, The other thing to watch is the width of the tyres - with 185 tyres the ramps I have are not really wide enough. |

Thats actually why ive NEVER used mine I usually have 215 width tyres on the car and they cost alot so I really don't want to damage them!!!!!! I suspect thought, I really just being a bit feeble about it

I haven't found many cars that will drive onto ramps, although a lot will go up in reverse... I still prefer a jack and some stands...unless I can persuade Garath to let me use his ramps

Yeah jack and stands work for me, hence another reason for never using my ramps I remember Mr Hardesty modified his ramps, he was running on 215 18 35 tyres and built wooden extenders that also gave him a flat surface to be kind to his tyres. As I recall they worked really well and he was able to drive up them even though Maisey was lowered 60mm on Whiteline springs with a ZXI front splitter, not sure if he ever posted any pics on here though! |

i stuck a few wooden planks (scaffold) together of various lengths. My front lip only just clears the first plank! Easy to customise to your desired gradient, just screw a block to the end as a stop. |

Thanks everyone - ramps with extensions on their way for my birthday (cheers Mum!) Plank mod is an ace idea - think I'll be doing that!
