hi guys,

i need yoru help. i have searched high and low for a guide even in the ba section (as i thought the set-up wouldnt be too different)

some of you may know i have a noisey power steering sound coming from my engine bay only at full lock, it sounds very much like belt slippage as i can sort of feel it aswell.
i have checked the belt and i can turn it round over 180degrees, so not good + it looks pretty worn out.

i have ordered a new belt for FPS and its been despatched today, so i will be fitting it the weekend or sooner :D

im not quiet sure where to start i can get the old belt off easy (just cut it) but would something need to be loosened to get the new belt on? or do you just slip it on the tensioner and pump with a bit of force?

+ is there a way to tighten the belt if it is loose?

cheers
kev

There's a tensioner on the steering pump, loosen it off, remover the old belt, fit the new one, tighten the tensioner :)

I think you need to loosen the bolt that is behind the pulley for it to move, the pulley has holes in it, turn it to get access and away you go :)

i actually found it easier to release the tension in the 3 bolts that hold the bracket to the engine, then the hole pump was able to bend round enough to slip the belt on.
job was a little fiddly, but new belt and pump and tensioner and now my power steering is SPOT ON
no squeeks on whines or anything, im really happy

Be sure to check your belts after a few weeks, mine needs adjusting and squeels like a stuck pig when it's cold :(
