I used to own one, had it for nearly 3 years. Mine was a 91 323F GT (1.8 DOHC etc etc). Done me well, and because of that car i created www.popuplights.co.uk , which in turn created this section on club 323F! :)

heres the old girl:

I Now drive a toyota starlet gt turbo, cheaper all round to drive than the mazda and much quicker!

hmm...

Starlet GT -133hp. 0-60 6.9, weight 850-900kgs
Mazda 323 1.5 - 110hp 0-60 9ish? weight 1000-1100kgs

And thats going in stock form, cant see you keeping up until 100+ where the starlet tails off. Watch out, theres some fast starbos over there!!

okies got one for ya!

had a flaming row today with some one who thinks he knows it all about mazda BG's

now hes compleatly convinced that all the bg moddle does
(injection moddle) is 105bhp!! and thats a 1.8GT

now i argued the toss to this that prehapes his mistaken some were,
and me being one not to back down stood me ground.

so to clear this up, the 1.8 BG GT has a bhp of 140ish pre cat, right?
and a cat moddle in and around the 120bhp, right?

as the carb 1.6 i had was only about 95bhp.

(not sure on the 1.6 injections tho so didnt say nout)

also that even tho the mazda BG is ment to have 16 valves they only really have 12!

now how the f*** he came to this is behond me!

im i right for saying im right and hes wrong?

Your both right.....
Mazda did build a 12 valve 2 litre engine, but it was in the 626.
The GT has 105 bhp.......... AT THE WHEELS!!! 140 at the flywheel.
The cat version has about 94 BHP ATW, and 129bhp AT flywheel.

oh okies then!
lol!!
so how do i go about bringing dow the rest of the power from the flywheel to the wheels then?
cos thats a big bloody drop in bhp.

not that im a power freak or anything! ;-)

Dan BG is now the proud owner (i think he's chuffed to bits really) of Snake Eyes.
he got the deal, the steal, the sale of the f*****g century.

not only did he get the car at a peanuts price, i also cleared my garage and shed of all the spare's i had (bonnet scoop/spare bonnet/spare front bumper/spare rear lights/spare front indicators/spare wheels/spare motors/spare this that and everything) he's laughing all the way to the bank!!!!!!!!
Good on him i say, im glad it's gone to someone within the club who's hopefully gonna love her, improve her further that what i was willing to do.
put it this way, he's got one hell of a modified platform to improve upon.

the only two things i do ask of dan, is plllllllease keep her black, and keep the name snake eye's....as every ex popuplights member know's her by that name.

so did you enjoy driving her dan????????

I've just bought a bargain BG for 250 quid. It runs lovely but has a few quirks, but nothing unfixable! I think it's a lovely car that has just been negleted and used for a 5 mile trip to and from work for too long!

Most people here are probably sick of me saying this but my BG only cost me £10

It's one of the best cars I've ever had and it'll only get better with time and my greasy hands LOL

what is it with these cars?
there like a drug once they get hold of you thats it.
they force you to spend money you dont have, they creep around you get under your skin an take ahold.

Hi mate, and welcome. :thumbleft:
Your mechanic is right, the 1.5 engine will need the same computer. Otherwise al lthe fuelling and timing will be for a 1.8.
