as the title suggest really....i know that mx-3 seats are a nice easy straight swap for stock BA's.
has anyone had a go with mx-5 seats? or will the rails need modifying as rx-8 ones do?
i have a set of aftermarket reclining bucket seats on BA rails, but im selling them on as im getting far too old and they bring on my sciatica(how sad is that???)

a few people have had RX8 seats in their BA :thumbright:

I've got a set of aftermarket seats fitted on customised BA rails which i'll be putting up for sale asap :)

Thanks for that.
Good to know they are a fit but theres a bit of work involved.
Would need to get them to as low as the standard if not lower.
Thanks for the offer on the seats but by the time shipping costs were added to NZ wouldn't be worth it.

I fitted rx8 to my car using the f rails welded to the rx8 seats. You just have to space them right, the outside rail needs to be lower by about 40mm or something like that. Not a bad job to be honest. Also fitted the rx8 steering wheel which again is straight forward and looks great

You can make virtually any seat fit really, it's just a question of building the rails to fit, I fitted a Recaro Ergomed years ago and used readily available bar and box steel from B&Q to adapt the F rails.

I didn't even weld, I used stainless nuts and bolts, because at the time I neither had a welder or could weld, still can't weld :p

Incidentally, when I did it I measured the outer rail to be 27mm lower!

I'm currently looking at alternative seats for the V6 because like Paul, I'm getting old and standard F seats hate my back! :D

I'm currently looking at 3 sports seats which are very similar to Rx8 seats but have separate head restraints, they're also alot cheaper than RX8 seats. The trouble for me for the RX8 seats is the rotary logo, I just can't put that in an F, it would just seem odd to me, but I am a bit odd anyway, so that might explain it :p

After looking for and trying out plenty of sport seats (Why are they so uncomfortable unless you're a stick) I realised that Sport seats and my full figure were not made for each other :-( .
My daughter has a 2003 Merc C Class C320 and I found the seats on that excellent. (Supportive and very comfort) so did some measuring.
The Mazda seats are about the same size if not a bit bigger but the mounting setup is different.
I brought a pair of 2005 C Class front seats with electric's and over the next month or so will set up the rails and electric's and see how they go. Getting the seat low will mean mods to the rails and I will use the Mazda rails forward and back function verses the Merc electric system to assist with the height.
Should be interesting and challenging :-)
Has anyone else tried this? or something similar?

Any update? I'm curious if the C Class seats are a better alternative.
