Hello guys,

I need some help regarding the center console of my Mazda 323F BA '98 model. All of a sudden my center console does not illuminate when I switch the lights on. Specifically, neither the ventilation console nor the alarm switch and the other switches illuminate. The clock and the ashtray bulbare functional though.

What do I need to do? Can I just solve the problem by changing some bulbs? If so, what bulbs will I need?

Thanks!

Hi! :)

If everything's gone at once, I'd first consider a blown fuse, or maybe a short circuit.

A simple loose bulb/wire is possible - one of my clock lights went out recently but it's fine again now.

I'm not clear about the wiring behind the console, or know the bulb spec as I haven't had to deal with that on Sundance (forum: can anyone else help?)

Τhe windshield heater switch that is next to the alarm switch illuminates normally though... I was wondering if the switches featured an integrated bulb. if this is the case, I have to buy another alarm switch. I don't know anything about the ventilation console... how is that lighted??

My manual says this power feed starts with the TNS relay, then black/blue wire to the passenger fuse box (Fuse 16, 15A) then red/black wire to the panel. If the fuse has gone then other things won't work as well, like the clock or the number plate lights.

So, as Serena says, I suspect the wire from the fuse into the panel. There are then individual bulbs for the switches e.g. instrument cluster illumination or heater controls illumination, and the hazard warning switch light.
