There is a plastic cover on the rear suspension arm and I have just noticed that mine has come in half and fallen off. Looking at the Mazda EPC catalogue this part doesn't seem to be listed anywhere. Were these covers fitted to all models? and can they be replaced without removing the arm?

Photo of the part (one half only)

Well, I can tell you that my 2001 1.6 GXi has those plastic arms. They're still attached though

I know in the aftermarket, Megan Racing make some trailing arms... http://bmmperformance.co.uk/product/maz ... an-racing/

I suspect you can replace them without taking the arm off - because it came off without removing the arm

And that is about the extent of my knowledge. :blackeye:

Thanks.
Anyone ever changed a stock rear suspension arm? if so can you remember if these plastic covers can be removed without removing the arm?

I've got the Megan Racing trailing arms fitted to mine. Don't really remember plastic bits but must have came off with arm. :doubt:

Edit just found pic I took at time.

Reviving this thread. :)
My suspension arm snapped this week. I have managed to pick up a new replacement arm. Is it a difficult job to replace the arm, looks like it is just a matter of undoing the two bolts through the rear bushes, if so do the rubber bush metal sleeves tend to get corroded on?

The bolts are tight, get a bit of penetrating oil on them first. Oh and one of the nuts is captive so don't try and slacken it ;)

Thanks Neil, Checking the diagram it appears that both of the arm retaining bolts do not use nuts i.e. just bolts are used. Does the captive nut that you are referring to just looks like a normal hexagonal nut but is welded on?

Neil ?? It was a while ago I changed mine but I'm sure the captive nut does look like a hex nut.
