Morning all,

Dates have been announced for JAE 2019 so here it is for you all to plan around :)

When?
Thursday 8th August - Sunday 11th August.

Where?
We're moving from Peterborough arena and heading to a new venue...which has yet to be announced but I did see something the other day stating that they are working in conjunction with MSV which could mean JAE will be at a UK track venue next year...very interesting!

It also looks like normal service will be resumed for Thursday entries and no more messing about with extra passes and waiting around in a queue for 7 years to get in!

I'll update with more information as and when it comes boys and girls :)

Yeah I saw too on fb about them owning 7 uk tracks. Also mentioned something on at both brands hatch and Donnington over that time period. Geographically speaking Oulton Park would be the most centrally located on a uk basis.....you never know.
And mist importantly I've already had my hols approved so I'm in(wherever it may be).

Thank god it's moving from Peterborough.

However at this stage it looks like I can't go anyway - mid-August clashes with something else that I can't move.

I saw that too Lee - my hunch is Donington, as it's perfect for a huge camping event (they host Download every year), but we shall see I guess!

Donny has DTM racing there over that weekend, had a look on the msv website as apparently it will be announced on there rather soon. When I saw msv I thought it was Middlesbrough sound and vision and it could gave been at croft....sadly not lol.

We shall have to wait and see I guess!

Had a quick chat with the organisers last night - as Paul mentioned above, the proposed venue is Norfolk Showground, potentially with a discount for a track day at Snetterton (track day would be costed separately), but that depends on MSV and how nice they're feeling - knowing MSV, it'll be a 49p discount on a £180 trackday :evil4:

Some points to take away from the phone call:

  • Price should stay largely the same, but insurance premium has drastically increased apparently
  • Thursday is included for 2019
  • Electrical costs at the venue are "significantly cheaper" than Peterborough (possibly all pitch in together instead of running generators?)
  • No quibbles with petrol generators or proper BBQs (though no guarantees this won't change next year)
  • Peterborough would only accommodate JAE alongside another event on the same weekend for 2019, which they've already booked. This was the case for 2018 too, but the other event cancelled at the last minute, hence the venue appearing so empty
  • Norfolk has an offroad course, which we may be able to use (Serena :thumbleft:)
  • Tickets should be offered for different days - eg Fri-Sun would cost less than Thurs-Sun, etc
  • They're open to ideas for more events and activities (I suggested car-based activities in the IKO - car tug of war? flame contest? oil consumption challenge? how many people can you fit in? limbo? autocross?
  • Peterborough would only permit us to use their catering supplier - Norfolk don't care who we use (I did find it odd to have Chinese food at a Japanese event, I must say)
  • There's a McDonalds right outside the venue (Lerch :thumbleft:)
  • There's a Costa right outside the venue (John :thumbleft:)
  • There's a petrol station right outside the venue (this one's mainly for me )
  • There's a Premier Inn right outside the venue, for those of you who take it up the bum
  • There's no residential areas around, so they "don't give a f*ck about noise"

That's about all I can remember from the phone call, but if anyone has any more questions they'd like us to pass onto the JAE team, let us know in this post!

The offroad course will particularly suit brown cars ... as the dirt won't show (Hughie :thumbleft:)

Had a couple of emails over the weekend with a bit more information so here goes:

Track day at Snetterton is officially exclusive to JAE attendee's. Limited to 80 places at £180 each. More information can be found here: https://jae-show.co.uk/pages/jae-snette ... k-day-info

Looks like they've added a few things for this year too:
-Big screen being put up for movies after dark - I imagine it'll be the standard F&F.
-Pub quiz for clubs to take part in (we should do this)
-They're bringing back the fireworks set to music (last time we had this was about 6 years ago and it was decent)

-staggered ticket prices are coming back so you pay a set amount for a Thurs-Sun ticket but the Fri-Sun ticket is cheaper etc. However, the prices have been increased once again:
Thursday - Sunday £50 or £65 on the gate
Friday - Sunday £45 or £55 on the gate
Saturday - Sunday £35 or £45 on the gate

Official location for the showground supplied by JAE is:
Norfolk Showground, Dereham Road, Norwich, NR5 0TT

Some mixed news for us all there :)
